For a People-Centred City

It’s Time for Change in Brampton

Brampton is confronting serious issues, including:

  • Housing and Affordability

  • Traffic and Transportation

  • Our Local Economy and Jobs

Bramptonians deserve a councillor ready to tackle these issues.

Brampton Deserves Better

Residents deserve a councillor who will work hard to improve our city and hold our municipal government and mayor accountable, someone with a positive vision for Brampton’s future, and has real solutions to the problems making life in our city harder and more unaffordable.

Solutions for Brampton and a People-Centred City

There are solutions for the problems facing Brampton today. We have the power to make Brampton a better city for all who call it home. We need a city council who will put people first and have a vision for the future of the city. Here are some of the progressive policies I will fight for:

  • Affordable Housing: Rezone to allow different kinds of housing to built in Brampton. Offer a diverse array of housing options, including secondary unit apartments; apartments for individuals and families; and homes to create more affordable housing and build the missing middle of housing. Allow the construction of duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes in areas ready for growth. Review the planning process to help housing get built in a timely manner.

  • Strong Neighbourhoods: Create walkable neighbourhoods that offer a mix of housing, retail, and commercial services close together. Oppose wasteful spending on projects and spend money and resources in our communities. Resist further sprawl and protect the city’s remaining green spaces. I will apply the principles of Smart Growth and New Urbanism to improve our city.

  • Public Transit: Stop the cuts to Brampton Transit. Invest in transit infrastructure, including the Queen Street BRT and the Hurontario Light Rail, to reduce congestion and make transportation in Brampton effective and reliable. Use transit-oriented development to reduce congestion, improve our transit network’s functionality, increase mobility for everyone, and help green the city.

  • A Vibrant Local Economy: Build Brampton’s economy with a strong foundation of locally-owned, small businesses. Many entrepreneurs and business-owners have struggled in recent years with supply chain issues, tariffs, and high costs. Fostering our city’s economy where people can buy locally, work locally, and sell locally will make us more resilient going into the future.

  • Accountability and Integrity at City Hall: In the era of strong mayor powers, the city needs a council willing to question decisions, offer constructive criticism, and defend the interests of the public. Council has acted as a rubberstamp and failed to provide real scrutiny.

We can improve the quality of life for everyone who lives in this city and address the challenges confronting our city. With these goals in mind, Brampton can take hard-won lessons from similar cities around the world to begin the process to transform into a truly great city to call home.
